Strategy and Business Results

  • Drive the development of a business aligned, standards based, strategy for Zoetis Platform services and solutions.
  • Act as an innovation enabler and proactively bring forward opportunities and solutions that can drive cost effective service delivery and enable revenue growth and profitability for the company.
  • Deploy appropriate internal and external controls to deliver reliable platform infrastructure and services that are Disaster and Audit Ready, with SLAs that strive for 24x7 availability, 100% uptime.
  • Create appropriate metrics/KPIs and then track, report upon, and proactively communicate results from system/platform performance monitoring.
  • Architecture, Delivery, and Support

  • Develop, deploy, and maintain integrated, standardized solutions and services for the company, including:Windows Server and hypervisor-based solutionsHybrid cloud and on premises infrastructure solutions and architecturesAutomation and support tools Terraform, Chef, etc.Converged and Hyper-Converged infrastructure hardwareDisaster Recovery and Data Protection (Backup/Restore) solutionsTechnology standards & roadmapsVendor Management
  • Maintain and enhance the enterprise systems architecture. Ensure adherence to standards and polices for platform technology components, and integration between related system, application, and infrastructure architectures.
  • Drive the standardization and rationalization of the Zoetis platform infrastructure towards a clearly defined, optimized, and enhanced end-state architecture.
  • Assist in the creation, maintenance and communication of the Zoetis platform and other related technology architecture(s), including relevant design and technology standards
  • Engineering-level (L4) support of all Windows Server, on-premises and cloud virtualization platforms and services
  • Lead efforts to keep supported platforms current, .e.g. preparation of OS install repositories, OS patching process and patch deployments, and creation and customization of server build templates as new versions are released, and documentation updates
  • Facilitate and/or participate in weekly status review calls with platform managed services provider (MSP) operational resources
  • Provide direct oversight and direction of daily MSP operational support activities
  • Lifecycle management of all relevant technologies


  • Manage platform infrastructure within defined annual operating and capital budgets consistent with established financial guidelines as part of the overall ITS budget
  • Create, deploy, and maintain appropriate processes and practices to facilitate operational and organizational success. Continuously look for improvement, development, enhancement opportunities.
  • Assist in the creation and maintenance of a positive, can-do, client-focused culture in the infrastructure team helping to make the ITS a great place to work.
  • Additional responsibilities in collaboration with other ITS groups:
  • Collaborate with and provide architectural, design, and engineering direction to other Infrastructure Teams such as Application, Database, Desktop, Network, Security and Service Desk/Site Services to ensure appropriate architecture and processes are developed, maintained, and followed
  • Gather requirements from business and application teams and their vendors to architect, design, and implement appropriate server and storage solutions
  • Provide appropriate technical and operational input to the sourcing and procurement of infrastructure hardware and software purchase, licensing, service, and maintenance contracts, etc.
  • Interact with vendors and other technical support groups for monitoring and management, systems maintenance, and enhancements of supported platforms

  • Willingness and desire to engage and learn multiple platform technologies; openness and ability to design and support various platform technologies



  • University Degree in a recognized, and relevant technical, or business-related field, or equivalent practical experience

    Experience (at least 5 years of experience in the following areas):

  • Clear understanding of IT Infrastructure lifecycle: Architecture, Design, Implementation and Operations
  • Strong working knowledge of all areas of IT Infrastructure
  • Familiarity with system development and operational process methodologies
  • Experience working across diverse technical teams
  • Desire to work in a team-oriented environment and proactively drive technical solutions that meet business needs and increase business productivity and/or business efficiency
  • Experience in a commercial environment, preferably life-sciences
  • Knowledge of pharma/animal health or similarly regulated businesses including audit response experience
  • Excellent understanding of one or more of the following: Windows Server, Virtualization technologies such as VMware ESX, vSphere, vCenter, Hyperconverged Infrastructure (HCI), Data Protection solutions, disaster recovery and replication solutions
  • Solid understanding of networking concepts and functionality as it relates to platform architecture and design
  • Knowledge of and experience deploying infrastructure (IaaS) solutions to Cloud platforms Azure/AWS preferred
  • Familiarity with cloud automation and monitoring tools such as Terraform, Chef, CloudHealth
  • Proven ability to architect, engineer, design and deploy new and existing technologies for large enterprises
  • Ability to see the long-term industry direction and understand how the projects they are driving fit into the business strategy.
  • Ability to take input from multiple sources and be able to formalize stable, cost-effective solutions
  • Ability to write technical documentation in a format understandable and usable by on- and off-shore Level I, II and III personnel
  • Understanding of Systems and Infrastructure Lifecycle Management
  • Experience implementing and utilizing stringent change management processes
  • Position may require off-hours work in support of required technologies
