The College of Information Sciences and Technology (IST) is seeking a communications intern to produce stories for the College, Penn State News, and publications, programs, and events. The intern will work closely with the Marketing and Communications team to connect with faculty, staff, and students to tell ISTs story; edit and proofread College materials; assist with the Colleges social media efforts; and assist with the planning and execution for the College lecture series and special events. Experience with photography, multimedia capture and presentation tools, and video production are preferred. Any student with relevant experience will be considered, but preference will be given to students majoring in journalism or advertising/public relations. Strong writing skills, completion of COMM 260 News Writing and Reporting, and a demonstrated knowledge of Microsoft Office are required. Candidates should be detail oriented and must be able to meet deadlines and work on multiple projects at once. Additionally, candidates must be comfortable with independent projects, accept critical feedback in order to improve their skill set, and be willing to ask questions. This paid internship will require approximately 10-15 hours per week, with occasional evening and weekend hours required for special events. Equipment and software will be provided by the College.
